Professor Trenary’s research interests span the traditional areas of physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, and the chemistry of inorganic materials.  The structure and

chemistry of solid surfaces is a theme that unites all of the different projects. Specific areas of study are related to important technological fields such as heterogeneous

catalysis, semiconductor processing, growth of thin film materials, nanotechnology, and development of alternative energy sources. A broad array of sophisticated

instrumentation for surface science studies under ultrahigh vacuum conditions are available in his laboratories.
